Spelaeology – Caving

For geology enthusiast a visit to the "La Fosca" caves is recommended, both for the interest in the cave as well as the beauty of the surrounding area of "Col della Remita" and "Col del Bòio".

The cave opens into dolomitic rock; sedimentary rock from the Triassic period, made up of pale dolomitic limestone, but interestingly it is in a point close to where the sedimentary rock meets with the plutonic granite of Cima d’Asta.

This unusual geological feature gives one the opportunity of observing three completely different types of rock:
 • Sedimentary
 • Metamorphic
 • Magmatic
